8 Ways to Increase Your Home’s Curb Appeal

The outside of your home is the first thing to greet visitors and offer an impression of what may be inside. If it fails to inspire from the outset, it lowers expectations for the inside.

Spring, with its glorious weather and spirit of renewal, is a chance to ramp up your home’s curb appeal! Here’s 8 ways we think might be help add curb appeal to your home.

1. Paint Paint Paint                    Exterior-House-Paint-Colors-Vintage-Style-blog.jpg

A fresh coat of paint, whether you’re changing the color scheme or just sticking with the same color, it’s a nice way to brighten up your home.

2. Get out the power washer    images-1-blog.jpg

Now that Winter is over your house has seen it all from moss, dirt and spider webs.  Oh….and those windows have probably seen better days! Rent or borrow a power washer and give the exterior of your home a good cleaning, and don’t forget going over the windows!

3. Dress up the front door       Home-with-Red-Door-blog_thumb.jpg

Your home’s front entry is the focal point of its curb appeal. It’s easy to change by giving your front door a blast of color with paint or by installing a custom wood door. Clean off any dirty spots around the knob, and use metal polish on the door fixtures. If you’re looking for more inspiration please check out our gallery.

4.  Do some hardscaping          Aardweg-Landscaping-Main-Line-Philadelphia-Front-Yard-Ideas-blog_thumb.jpg

Built-in concrete planters, a low stone wall, or new paths are all great ways to add structure to your front yard that will last for many years to come.

5. Add a Porch                   2-big-frontporch-blog_thumb.jpg

Adding a new porch to your front yard can add great curb appeal. Make sure to get professional design help so your porch doesn’t look like an add-on, and check building codes for setback requirements. Also, if you plan to entertain there, make sure your porch is at least 12×24 feet.

6.  Replace Siding              blog-siding_thumb.jpg

Refresh your home’s exterior with new siding. The most affordable option is vinyl siding. Siding your home can make a dull and ugly home look brand new! Siding is now available in a wide variety of colors and material. Your bound to find something that suits your budget and taste.

7. Install New Roofing     roof-blog_thumb.jpg

A new roof can change the whole look for your home. Always make sure you carefully choose the right material for your home. When replacing a roof, it’s best to tear off the old roof rather than install a new one over it.

8. Charming Driveway     driveway_60-blog_thumb.jpg

Now this would be a stalker house if it were in my town. It’s just so perfect! The real reason I included this charming home is the charming driveway. You can always up the value on your home with a new paved driveway.

So, tell me…do you have a home in your town that is real stalker material? 🙂
